Skincare Favourites

Until only a couple of years ago I though taking my make -up off only involved a quick once over with a simple face wipe. How wrong I was; as I get older I am beginning to understand the importance of taking good care of my skin, here are a few of my favourite daily skincare products with a few beauty thrown in for good measure.

The Liz Earle Hot cloth cleanse and polish is my ultimate favourite to remove the day. This cleanser removes makeup and leaves my skin feeling so refreshed. I have been using this for over 3 years now and I honestly cannot fault this product. Retail price £15.50 100ml

After cleansing follows toning, my current favourite is the Tea Tree skin clearing toner from the body shop. I was introduced to this by my Sister and I could not recommend this more. The Tea Tree is incredibly cleansing and leave my skin feeling so refreshed and clean, almost like a layer has been taken off but in a good way. This retails in store at £5.00 and really is money well spent!

Around twice a week I find it works well for me switch up my routine slightly and incorporate a face mask, I had seen this Origins Clear Improvements and really wanted to give it a try, I bought this miniature version over in America back in January and once this is finished I will definitely be investing in the full sized product. This mask is clay based and I find it is the perfect product to really clear out my pores. Retail price £23.00 (full sized product).

Keeping mu skin hydrated is really important to me, again a few years ago I had no interest in moisturising my skin, I still don't moisturise in the mornings, it's not for everyone and everyone has a different skincare routine. However before I go to bed I like to keep my skin hydrated. The Clinique Smart Night moisturiser does just that, I always worry that moisturiser will leave my skin greasy or oilier but this does just the opposite. I wake up every morning with smooth and hydrated skin. Retail price £48.00

Changing directing slightly to make-up, although this isn't exactly skincare, I do apply it to my skin. The Clinique moisture surge tinted moisturiser has been a complete game changer in my make-up routine. Since coming back from Barbados I really haven't wanted to clog my skin up with a heavy duty foundation and this has been the best alternative. Although it's a moisturiser it has an amazing light and long lasting coverage that really evens out a lot of my imperfections. SPF 15. Retail price £23.00.

Whilst on the subject of make- up and in a similar theme to not wanting to smother my face in heavy make- up, the Mac mineraliser in the shade Cheeky Bronze is s beautiful highlight and bronzer that I cannot put down at the moment. It is so radiant and makes my overall daily make- up look incredibly bright (even if I don't feel it). Retail price £24.50

I love a good brow as much as the next person. Tamed brows are the one thing that makes me feel I have the slightest bit of control in my life, tidy brows = tidy life. The NYX Tame and Frame Tinted Brow Pomade is a little pot of wonder. It is so affordable and I would choose this over most high end brow products any day. This product suits my skin tone perfectly and is incredibly long lasting, I never have to touch up my brows at all when wearing this product. Retailed at £6.00 a little goes a long way!

Finally I thought I would add in this all time favourite, just for good measure. The Vera Wang Princess has been my scent of choice since I first discovered it when I was 16, which I can't believe was nearly 10 years ago! Since then I have never fallen out of love with this perfume, it's always my first choice where ever I go. The scent is so floral and light that over the past 10 years all my friends associate this scent with me! Retail price is around £24.99 which is super affordable I would recommend it to anyone!

So there it is, a few of my all time beauty and skincare favourites that I couldn't live without right now. Let me know if you use any of these or if there are any products you think I should try!

Catching some Winter sun in Barbados

Anyone who knows me knows that I am the biggest sun junkie, even in the slightest bit of sun and I dig out my sandals then find out it's still only about 2 degrees outside.

Barbados has always been on the hotlist of places to go and back in February I was lucky enough to visit the beautiful Island. I am one of those people who's mind runs at 1 million miles per hour and I have recently had a number of big changes in my life so a week away is just what I needed to switch off and escape to paradise for 7 days.

Air BnB is 100% the way forward for all accommodation from now on, it has changed the way I holiday now and for the rest if my traveling life. The Royal Westmorlands Golf Resort is without fail one of the most stunning resorts, I could have stayed there forever.

The beauty of Barbados is you are never more than a stones throw from a beach.

Escaping the cold for 7 days was the perfect opportunity to switch of and spend some quality time with the family.

The local town was so beautiful with each shop and restaurant painted a gorgeous bright colour. Inside the shops were just as gorgeous with hand crafted jewellery and gifts.

Barbados you were a true pleasure and I cant wait to visit you again soon!

A Sunday well spent brings a week of content

It's so easy on a Sunday to sit at home, slob on the sofa nursing the mother of all hangovers. I should know, I spend most Sunday's regretting how much I drank the night before and swearing never to drink ever again!
I have often heard the expression "A Sunday well spent brings a week of content" and never really experienced it for myself....until now.

(Casual Sunday's by the coast)
Norfolk is renowned for it's beautiful coast lines, I am lucky enough to live around a 40 minute drive form the North Norfolk coast and now I live back this way I really need to take full advantage of this. The weather yesterday was grey and overcast however incredibly mild, there was hardly anyone around which made the whole experience so quiet and peaceful, walking along the small overgrown paths along the Cromer coast line was just the perfect way to wind down after a long week and to spend quality time with the family.

For anyone living near or planning to visit Cromer soon, seriously check out No.1 Fish and Chips, honestly hands down one of the best Scampi and chips I have ever tasted. The restaurant owned by renowned chef Galton Blackiston is set looking out over the sea and could not be any more perfect if it tried!

Let me know in the comments what makes the perfect Sunday for you!

Spring Morning Rotuine

When the mornings are lighter and the weather is a little milder I like to switch up my morning routines.

As soon as I wake up at 7am I like to go for a morning walk, usually for 30 - 40 minutes just around the village where I live. This starts my day with a clear and refreshed mind before the day really begins. I am lucky enough to live in a really beautiful area of the countryside, hardly any traffic and its so peaceful.

A healthy breakfast always makes me feel set up for the day. My go to breakfast at the moment is a mixture of Greek yoghurt, fruit and granola. I have recently tried to cut back on the carbs at breakfast time, I could easily eat 10 rounds of toast every morning with butter and jam! Cutting these back and replacing them with a healthier option is giving me more energy and making me feel more nourished.

Now I feel ready to start the day I will make a cup of tea and sit down to work, checking emails, social media and any other general admin I need to complete. I have recently purchased The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking and it's so interesting! Full of little hints and tips on how to live well. No doubt you will see this book mentioned in many posts, I can't put it down!
